Edith - Blessed With Riches

Description

Edith explores a rookery nest as memory and pattern — a place where wildlife becomes symbol, and surface becomes history. I build my birds through carved linework, layered texture, and fractured shapes that echo water, wind, and nest. Elongated, curved forms sweep through the composition, wings caught mid-flap to hold a feeling of movement and freedom. Contrasting light and dark passages create depth, while a muted, earthy palette lets the birds’ features emerge with quiet clarity. A soft, dimensional texture suggests a living environment and strengthens the emotional pull of nature, drawing viewers into a moment of vitality where the birds’ interaction hints at unity and harmony. Inspired by artists I’ve admired for years, the work remains rooted in my own language of relief, rhythm, and Louisiana atmosphere.
